Former NFL player, Shannon Sharpe made national headlines after being involved in a scandal. Sharpe accidentally live-streamed audio of his sexual encounter on Instagram. The video, which was widespread quickly, led to him being “embarrassed” and “disappointed” in himself. Sharpe’s current job at ESPN seems to be in danger with many predicting that the entire fiasco would get him fired. Sharpe, who has amassed more than 3 million followers on Instagram, accidentally went live on his ID and then engaged in a sexual encounter, unaware that the whole incident was being recorded. Following the release of his video, he quickly issued a statement saying that his Instagram was hacked. However, later he proceeded to delete it and retracted his statement.

Sharpe then explained that he is very technology illiterate because of which he was unaware that his phone was recording.

In his podcast titled “Nightcap” with co-host, Chad Johnson, Sharpe provided explanations for the incident stating that he threw his phone on the bed and then proceeded “in an activity” unaware of the fact that he was streaming it live to his Instagram followers.

Sharpe continued to say he was “embarrassed” by the whole world having an insight into what was supposed to be a private encounter. He explained that he is a very private person so to have details of his most intimate time blasted over the internet for the entire world to hear was extremely mortifying.

Furthermore, he stated that he is expected to be professional at all times even after his office hours, therefore the audio being leaked online made him disappointed in himself. He also claimed that he “let a lot of people down.”

In the episode of Nightcap, Shannon further revealed details about how the mishap occurred. He admitted that his phone started blowing up with notifications with people alerting him about the live stream. It was finally Sharpe’s marketing partner, Fritz who was able to get through to him and then another person ultimately ended the live-stream.

Sharpe’s co-host, Chad verified his unawareness about tech problems and poked fun at him in an attempt to make light of the situation.

Who is Shannon’s partner in the video?

Although the identity of the woman involved in the video has not been revealed, Sharpe referred to the woman as “Michelle” in the leaked audio. This revelation led to the public trying to uncover who the woman was. Sharpe’s former ESPN colleague, Michelle Beadle turned out to be the most likely candidate, however, she quickly shut down all rumors via a Twitter post clearly stating that it was not her.
