Marc Trestman’s Wife Is The Strength Behind His Successful Career

Marc Trestman is a successful football coach. In 2002, he was awarded NFL Coordinator of the Year. He was also named as the CFL coach of the year in 2009 and 2017. A huge credit for the success of his coaching career goes to his wife, Cindy Trestman.

Marc Trestman’s Career

Born in 1956, Marc Trestman was brought up in Minnesota, United States. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he went on to get his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law and became a member of the Florida Bar. Trestman took the first step in coaching when he volunteered during his law school days. In 1983, while he was the University of Miami’s quarterback coach, his team won the national championship. This kickstarted his coaching career. In 1984, he went on to coach for the NFL.

Marc Trestman’s Success

In the NFL, he started as running backs coach for the Vikings under head coach, Bud Grant. Although his team did not make the playoffs, Trestman served as a coach for two years. Afterward, he went on to become the coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under the famous coach, Ray Perkins. In 1990, he then returned to Minnesota as the quarterbacks coach. Following this, he took a break from coaching for three years.

After returning to the NFL in 1995, his career kicked off with a bang with the 49ers scoring 457 points and crossing 4770 passing yards. In 2007, Trestman worked as the head coach for the Montreal Alouettes and led their way to victory which also earned him the Coach of the Year Award. In 2013, he was then hired by the Chicago Bears as their head coach.

Currently, he is working as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law and also hosts the “Leadership Gameplan” Podcast on Spotify.

Trestman’s Wife, Cindy Trestman

Trestman met his wife while coaching the Cleveland Browns. At the time Cindy worked at Hemisphere, a clothing store. She once mentioned that funnily enough, it was Marc’s father who first noticed her. After dating for a few years, Marc and Cindy Trestman tied the knot in a beautiful intimate wedding ceremony in their loved ones’ presence.

Although it is tough to keep up with the lifestyle of a head coach, Cindy has always been a pillar of strength for Marc. She is always encouraging of him and relays her support by going to most of his games. She even once described attending games as the best part of being a head coach’s wife.

Cindy has stated that being a coach’s wife has made her independent as her husband does not have a 9-5 job and she has to spend a lot of time without him. However, she is appreciative of it as she knew what she was signing up for. In an interview, she revealed that her detox after hectic routines was painting as well as spending time with family and friends.

Although her life seems glamorous from the outside, Cindy once gave an inside scoop into the hardships of being a head coach’s wife. She described the challenges of dealing with a loss after the game and said that the worst part about it was to lose a game and then wake up the next morning.

The couple is parents to two daughters, Sarahanne Trestman and Chloe Trestman.
