25-time Grammy winner, Stevland Hardaway Morris, is a personal favorite musician of many. Many of his songs includingYou Are The Sunshine Of My Life’ were a massive success with the audience. Recently, rumors of his death circulated with many wondering if the exceptional singer, Stevie Wonder is still alive.

Wonder’s Personal Life Has Been Controversial With Him Having 9 Children With 5 Women

Born in 1950, the sensational singer began to build his career at 10 and has been practicing piano, drum, bass, and harmonica since an early age. He was born in Michigan, to Calvin Judkins and Lula Mae Hardaway who divorced when Stevie was just a child. Wonder has five siblings, him being the third one.

Wonder’s personal life has been quite a talk among his fans since he married three different women and has nine children with five women. He initially married in 1970 to Syreeta Wright who is also a songwriter but unfortunately, parted ways in 1972. His second marriage was with a top-notch fashion designer, Kai Millard for 11 years but sadly, that didn’t work out for Steveland again as they divorced in 2012. They both have two beautiful sons together, Kailand and Mandla Kadjay Carl.

This wasn’t the end of Wonder’s love life as five years later, after his second divorce, he found his soul mate, Tomeeka Bracy, and married her in 2017. Wonder has been loyal to her ever since. They have two daughters together, Zaiah and Nyah.

Stevie didn’t stop his blindness from obstructing his success as a musician

The most inspirational thing about Wonder’s life is that being blind didn’t stop him to start and excel in his career. He made his musical debut as a child prodigy at the age of 13. Stevie Wonders wasn’t born blind. He was born premature and therefore had to be incubated with an excess of oxygen supply which caused abnormal growth of blood vessels in the retina leading to a disease called retinopathy of prematurity. Despite having a successful career Stevie’s life wasn’t always smooth. In 1973, the musician was involved in a car accident putting him in a coma. Days later, when he gained consciousness, he lost his sense of taste and smell but luckily that was temporary.

Wonder’s Career Highlights

Wonder’s first hit was ‘Fingertips’ at the age of 13. Stevie won 25 Grammy awards for ‘You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, Living For The City,I Wish, That’s What Friends Are For’ and others while receiving nominations for; ‘Moon River, How Will I Know,So Amazing’ and many more. Stevie also won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996 which is only given to people who have offered their exceptional performances in the field of recording. He was the only male solo artist with these many awards. He also won an Oscar for ‘ I Just Called To Say I Love You’ which he performed for the film ‘Women In Red’.

Is Stevie Wonders Still Alive?

At the age of 74 years, Wonders is still doing well. In fact, he is excelling in his career, recently performing at the National Democratic Convention. His performance of ‘Higher Ground’ won the hearts of many.
