Gymnast, Ashley Watson And Girlfriend, Joanna Inspire Thousands Through Their Social Media

Ashley Watson is a professional gymnast. Watson rose to fame by impressing people with his epic gymnastic skills on his social media. Not only did he post his successes but also his failures, which made people relate to him more and increased his popularity. Currently, he has over 350 thousand followers on Instagram and over three hundred thousand on Tik Tok. He is also very popular on YouTube with over 160K subscribers, where he features more of his personal life. He has been a part of the Leeds Gymnastic Club for two decades.

Ash Watson Set the Guinness World Record Twice

Watson began his career in 2013, showcasing impressive gymnastic skills on his Instagram. In his first video, he attempted a challenging leap.

Watson had his first success in his professional career in 2018 after he set a Guinness World record by swinging around the bar thrice, backflipping followed by successfully grabbing the landing bar. This led to him setting the horizontal bar flip record. He later expressed that he was surprised by the fact that no one had tried it before. Although he came close to achieving this record on his 6^th attempt, he bent his legs a little which made it void. Watson finally succeeded on his 8^th try with a record of 5.87 meters.

In 2021, Watson surprised people all over the world by breaking his own Guinness World record for the farthest backflip between two horizontal bars. He set a new record of 6 meters bridging the gap of a whole 13 cm between his previous record and the new one he set.

He described his feelings afterward and stated that his years of training proved to be worth it, and he felt ‘incredible’. His family and friends were also present in the gym, and he did not want to disappoint them. this provided him with extra motivation to break his previous record.

Watson’s Other Achievements

Apart from being a Guinness World Record holder, Ash’s achievements include other successes as well. In 2009, he took part in the Olympic Youth Festival for Australian youth. In 2013, Watson reached the high bar finals at the European Championship. The same year, he also took part in the World Championships. Likewise, in 2015, Watson succeeded at the British Masters in the parallel bars and high bar category.

Ash has been in a long-term relationship with Joanna Wilson, as acknowledged by him in a YouTube video. Joanna is the sister of Ash’s best friend, Nile Wilson, who is also a former British gymnast. Prior to their relationship, Ash and Joanna pranked Nile by pretending they were dating. However, it was soon revealed that it was a joke, and everyone had a good laugh. Funnily enough, the two started dating shortly after in real life. Ash disclosed that the two got close while living in Los Angeles.

Joanna, who is also a content creator uploaded a YouTube video revealing to their best friends about her and Ash’s relationship status and recorded their reactions. Their friends were extremely happy for the couple and congratulated them while also saying that they deemed it inevitable. One of their friends jokingly remarked that Watson was trying to steal Joanna away from them.

In another hilarious video, Ash, Joanna, and Nile recreated a scene from the infamous sitcom, Friends about a brother finding out about the relationship between his best friend and his sister. Towards the end of the video, Nile expressed how he was happy for the two and wished them good luck in their future endeavors. He also stated that “it was a long time coming”.
