In one of the deadliest incidents in the state, Colt Gray opened fire at the Apalachee High School leading to the death of 2 students and 2 teachers. Several more were injured. The shooter, who surrendered after the incident, is currently being held at the Youth Detention Center. More details have emerged regarding Gray revealing his troublesome background and abusive upbringing.

The Shooter, Colt Gray’s Troublesome Upbringing

14-year-old Colt Gray, the shooter responsible for the fatal incident had a problematic upbringing which is said to have been a major contributor in his decision to open fire at his high school. Gray grew up surrounded by abuse.

After diving deep into Gray’s background, it was revealed that his parents were separated after his mother, Marcee Gray suffered years of abuse. Marcee, according to her online presence went to Fitzgerald High School and later to Georgia University. She is currently settled in Georgia.

Colt’s mother, Marcee shared information about her abusive relationship on social media. She revealed that she tolerated the physical ill-treatment for 13 years.

Marcee further revealed details about Colt’s father’s abusive upbringing. She disclosed that he tolerated inhumane treatment as a child including having his arm broken when he was just 8. She also divulged details about him having his skull fractured from being hit with a barstool. When talking about her tolerance of abuse by her ex, Marcee explained that trauma is passed down to the victims. Although she was explaining her ex’s behavior, it seems like the same situation applied to her son, Georgia school shooter, Colt Gray.

After the separation of his parents, Colt lived with his father who was accused of domestic violence by Colt’s mother. It is widely rumored that Colt was also being abused by his father.

Colt’s mother, Marcee Gray’s Criminal Record

The mother of the shooter has been found to have a criminal record that is traced back to 17 years. She faced charges of drug possession, property damage, and also abuse. Marcee was also accused of fraud for which was arrested and subsequently jailed.

Colt Gray’s Ethnicity

Although Gray’s ethnicity and his family’s ancestry are unknown at the time, it is rumored that the family hails from England.

The fact that the shooter was named after a gun, Colt Gray is perceived as very astonishing. The public is labeling Gray’s parents equally responsible for the crime citing their negligence and irresponsibility towards their son.

Current Updates On The Matter

Presently, Colt Gray is being held as a juvenile with him being just 14 years old. However, it is revealed that he will be charged as an adult. The suspect was moved to the Gainesville Youth Detention Center overnight. Gray is scheduled to virtually appear before the court on Friday .
