Widely known for his role as Ricky in Disney’s ‘High School Musical’, Joshua Bassett is a popular American actor and singer. Bassett is also widely known for his dating choices, after being involved in what fans label a “love triangle”. Joshua’s relationship with Olivia Rodrigo and subsequently dating Sabrina Carpenter created a huge controversy, especially after Rodrigo’s song, ‘Driver’s License’ was speculated to be about Bassett.

Joshua Bassett’s Sisters

Joshua has 5 sisters: Claire, Winter, Alison, Ashley, and Hannah Bassett. Their close relationship is evident in how Joshua refers to them in his interviews. He often credits them for their role in his success. Joshua’s sisters are frequently seen supporting and cheering their brother on in his concerts. In an interview, Joshua called his sisters “his biggest fans” and also stated how blessed he was to have them in his life.

Speaking to Teen Vogue about his sisters, Joshua disclosed that growing up in a small town with few people made them very close to each other. In an interview with GQ, Joshua hilariously revealed that during their childhood, his sisters would make him wear a Snow White dress and ask him to run around the house. He further expressed his gratefulness to have their support and revealed that he could “always count on them, no matter what”.

In another interview with Billboard, Joshua referred to his sisters as his “best friends” and reiterated his luck to have their support.

Joshua’s sisters are also a part of the entertainment industry

The Bassett sisters followed in their brother’s footsteps to join the show business. While Claire Bassett is a singer and songwriter like her brother, his other sister, Winter is an actor and also dances occasionally. Alison Basset is a director and also a photographer. Ashley is a MUA. Although Joshua’s youngest sister, Hannah Basset is currently completing her studies, she too plans to join the entertainment industry.

Bassett has revealed that he loves to have his sisters included in his work. Joshua’s sister, Claire played his love interest for his music video ‘Lie to Me’. His sister, Winter played a minor role as Joshua’s class fellow in his movie, ‘High School Musical’. Joshua is incredibly grateful for his sister’s support and claims that they “bring a positive energy to the set”.

The Drama Between Bassett, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sabrina Carpenter

Although Bassett and Rodrigo never acknowledged the rumors about their dating life, it was widely speculated that the two had been dating. The rumors grew especially after Joshua revealed that during the shooting of the High School Musical, he added the “I love you” scene, which was initially not in the script, to Rodrigo on his own will. Although the date of their break up is not confirmed, Bassett was soon after spotted with singer, Sabrina Carpenter in June 2020.

What added spice to the drama was Rodrigo’s release of her new song “Driver’s License” whose lyrics talked about Bassett being involved with a blonde and older girl. Fans quickly connected the dots and pointed out Sabrina Carpenter fitting the description. A month later, Bassett released his song titled “Lie Lie Lie” which listeners thought was his response to Rodrigo’s song.
