Tito Jackson, Original Member Of The Jackson 5 Siblings, Passes Away At 70
The Jackson 5, the band of Tito Jackson’s siblings, has become one of the most influential and known bands ever. While the band’s success is largely thanks to the influence Michael Jackson had in his lifetime, the other members were also extremely skilled. Unfortunately, Tito Jackson’s passing marks another of the siblings to pass away.
Tito’s Life As Part Of The Jackson Five
Tito Jackson was born on October 15, 1953. Being the third of ten children to Joseph and Katherine Jackson, Tito Jackson’s siblings, and the former guitarist lived in a two-bedroom house in Gary.

While not very well known, the Jackson 5’s creation was largely thanks to Tito. Jackson’s father found him playing his father’s guitar once even though it had a broken string. Joseph fixed the string and asked Tito to play for him again, getting so impressed that he convinced Tito Jackson’s siblings Jackie and Jermaine to form a band with Tito, with the other two providing vocals to Tito’s guitar playing.
Initially, Tito and his siblings would perform at school functions and the like. However, when the famous Michael Jackson joined the band and became the lead singer of the Jackson Five, the band started climbing the ranks. While the band had songs like I Want You Back and The Love You Save, Tito’s guitar parts did not make their official debut thanks to the label the band was signed with. Fortunately, that was fixed when the band signed with CBS Records in 1976.
Even when many of Tito Jackson’s siblings were on and off with the band, Tito remained steadfast. Eventually, Jackson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 alongside his brothers.
Jackson’s Musical Journey Continues
The Jackson Five wasn’t the only musical endeavor Tito Jackson pursued. From a solo career starting in 2003 to being the executive producer of The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty, Tito remained in the spotlight.

Tito’s first commercially successful solo single on the Billboard charts was Get It Baby in 2016. The late musician also permed in various award dinners and galas before eventually releasing the first single of his second album in 2021.
Just a year before his passing, Tito Jackson teamed with Brazilian artist Natalia Damini to release a new song called “Attitude.” The song and its music video were a success, with many fans considering it a revitalization of the old Jackson feel.
Tito Jackson’s Personal Life
When he wasn’t in the spotlight, Tito Jackson was a family man. In addition to being close with his family, Jackson married Delores Martes at 18 in 1972. The couple had three sons, Taj, Taryll, and TJ, before divorcing in 1988. Much like Tito Jackson’s siblings, Tito’s sons formed their own band called 3T.

Tito joined his brothers Marlon, Jackie, Randy, and Jermaine Jackson to serve as pallbearers during Michael Jackson’s memorial service in 2009. Even 12 years after Michael’s passing, Tito continued to comment that the month of June was difficult to deal with because it was the month Michael passed.
That wasn’t all, as Tito Jackson also defended his brother from the allegations against him. Michael Jackson had various unsettling allegations regarding his relationship with children, and Tito strongly denied all of them.
Tito Jackson’s Untimely Death
Even at 70, Tito Jackson had no intentions of slowing down. The man was fairly active on social media and loved to travel. Jackson even visited Germany the week he passed away alongside The Jacksons.
