Scott Wayne Barnes Jr. is one of the most well-known and up-and-coming basketball stars of today. Despite only being 23, the young athlete has made a name for himself in the sports world. Now, he’s about to take a different journey, as Scottie Barnes’ pregnant girlfriend revealed the two are expecting a child.

A Young Love For Basketball

Born on August 1, 2001, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Scottie Wayne Barnes was born to a Jamaican father. While little is known about his early life and family, a lot of his relatives are from Canada.

Barnes’ first known appearance was in high school when he played basketball for Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida. The young athlete was so good that he earned All-Area second team and MaxPreps Freshman All-American honors. That too, after leading his school’s team to a 19-8 record and the Class 5A regional semifinals.

The future athlete transferred to NSU University School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where his career really took off. Barnes was teammates with the nation’s highest-ranked junior, Vernon Carey Jr. He also helped his team to a 36-2 record in its first Class 5A state title. Barnes’ performance in this school was so good, even when surrounded by professionals, that he moved to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida.

Joining top recruits Cade Cunningham and Day’Ron Sharpe, Barnes’ team is regarded as the greatest in high school basketball history. It’s no surprise that Barnes, according to Sports Illustrated, was worthy of All-American first-team honors.

Scottie Barnes’ Basketball-filled College

By college, Scottie was a consensus five-star recruit and according to ESPN the the fourth-best player in the 2020 recruiting class. Scottie announced his commitment to play college basketball for Florida State in 2019, getting offers from various states including Kentucky, Miami, and Oregon.

As a freshman, Scottie averaged 10.3 points, 4.1 assists, 4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game to earn the ACC Freshman of the Year honor, alongside others. He eventually declared for the 2021 NBA draft, cementing his future as a basketball star.

The Toronto Raptors’ Star Newcomer

West Palm Beach News reported that the Toronto Raptors selected Barned with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. While several others were also expected to get picked up, including Jalen Suggs, Scottie managed to make the team.

Many would agree that signing Scottie Barnes was one of the best decisions the Toronto Raptors made. Making his NBA debut on October 20, 2021, Barnes put up 12 points, nine rebounds, and one assist in a 98–83 loss to the Washington Wizards.

With his excellent athleticism and technique, Scottie made quite an impression on the sports world. So much so that he was named the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. Barnes was the first Raptor to get the award in 23 years. In July, Barnes went on to sign a $225 million 5-year contract extension to remain with the team. The contract cemented his journey with the team till the 2029-2030 NBA season.

Now that Fred VanVleet has left and the leader role is open, Scottie Barnes mentioned in an interview with Complex Canada that he’s ready to step up. According to him, his a natural-born leader, despite being in his early 20s.

Scottie, like many athletes, likes to keep his personal life hidden. However, TikTok star Alyssa Rae Holmes spilled the beans with an Instagram post showing her hands close on top of a swollen womb. What’s more, alongside Alyssa’s, there was another pair of hands.

While fans got to speculating, Scottie Barnes himself commented on the post stating “Life with you” alongside the teary-eyed and white heart emoji. This cements the fact that Scottie Barnes’ pregnant girlfriend is indeed Alyssa Holmes. It’s unknown how far the pregnancy is or when the couple is expecting, but fans of both individuals are jumping with joy.
