Netflix’s ‘The Deliverance’ Makes People Wonder About The Real-Life Ebony, Latoya Ammons’ Children

Netflix’s new horror movie, ‘The Deliverance’ has taken the internet by storm with its thrilling and captivating storyline. However, more shocking is the fact that the fear-inducing film is based on the real-life story of Latoya Ammons. Although the movie depicts a happy ending, people quickly became curious after watching the film about the present situation of Ammons and her children in reality.

The Latoya Ammons’ Haunting Case

The paranormal activities occurring with Ammons and her children in 2011 became the focus of interest for many with the unusual happenings in their house. Soon after moving into a new home, Ammons, her mother, and her three children observed some mystical events that led them to believe that the house was haunted.

Initially, they noticed small psychic happenings such as doors creaking and flies returning even after being killed. However, soon after the family got scared with major paranormal activities in the house. Ammons’ mother, Rosa Campbell asserted that she saw an unknown person in the house and found a shoe print. She further claimed that the stranger tried to choke her.

Latoya’s teenage daughter was said to have defied gravity by floating in the air during her sleep. Her son was claimed to have been possessed by unknown demons as he repeatedly shouted threats to kill others and said, “It is time to die”.

Petrified with the paranormal activities, Ammons called their doctor for help. The doctor, while visiting their house, observed unusual behavior and deemed it “delusional”. This analysis led to Child Protection Services being called suspecting child abuse which concluded that the children were acting under their mother’s direction. Their case then got national recognition with the public giving their input on the unusual matter.

After people’s guidance, Ammons then sought Father Maginot’s help in this regard. He did confirm that there was an unwanted presence in the house and that the family was fighting evil spirits. Father Maginot then performed an exorcism on Latoya Ammons followed by two more. He performed three exorcisms in English and Latin both.

After getting sick of dealing with the enormous attention they got because of the haunted activity, on top of coping with the paranormal activities in the house, the Ammons family ultimately made their decision to move houses. They shifted from Gary to Indianapolis in pursuit of peace. The activities are said to have stopped after they made their move.

What Happened With Latoya Ammons’ Children?

After shifting house, Ammons retrieved back the custody of her children. However, Child Protection Services kept a close eye on the family and gave Ammons a list of targets to achieve which she followed and met all their requirements. They also asked the family to see a therapist. Observing the progress that the Ammons family made, Child Services gave them a positive report claiming they were free of the thoughts of demons.

Netflix’s Depiction Of The Case

After the case received worldwide attention, Netflix decided to make a horror film based on the story that is now gaining much appreciation. Titled ‘The Deliverance’, the film made its debut on Netflix on August 30th. It stars the famous Andra Dey as Ebony based on the character of Latoya Ammons. The film also features the ‘Stranger Things’ star, Caleb McLaughlin who plays the role of the teenage son.

The movie quickly secured its spot in the hearts of the audience with its realistic camera visuals and breathtaking acting.

Is Latoya Ammons Still Alive?

Since her having trouble with Child Protective Services, Ammons has kept a low profile. After leaving their previous house, the family is said to be living peacefully in Indianapolis free of paranormal activities.

‘The Deliverance’ depicts a realistic visual of the entire ordeal and gives us an insight into what Loyota Ammons and her family dealt with. Receiving stellar reviews, the film is truly a must-watch.
