Musicians, Anuradha Sriram And Her Husband, Sriram Parasuram Redefine The Music Industry
Indian Karnataka singer, Anuradha Sriram and her husband, Sriram Parasuram are two of India’s leading musicians. Their combined jugalbandhis, a duet performance by two solo singers, are a treat to music listeners. While Anuradha has sung over 3000 songs, Sriram has performed in over 3 thousand violin solo concerts. Both musicians have made their mark in the music industry and amongst people’s hearts. They continue to showcase their talent via their music.
Anuradha Sriram’s Career Highlights
Born on July 9, 1970, 56-year-old Anuradha has already performed at over a thousand concerts all over the world. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Queen Mary’s College, she then attended Madras University for her Masters in music. Anuradha’s talent for music was recognized by her universities, awarding her gold medals in both courses.
She then went on to attend Wesleyan University in the US, which is also where she met her now-husband, Sriram Parasuram. The couple learned opera and jazz during their time at the university, while simultaneously performing at various concerts.

Anuradha’s talent was discovered by the music legend, A R Rehman who introduced her as a musician in the movie, ‘Bombay’. She sang the viral ‘Malarodu Malaringu’ for the film. Some of Anuradha’s most appreciated songs during her career include ‘Dilruba Dilruba’, ‘Acham Acham Illai’, and ‘Phenk Hawa’.
Anuradha is well-appreciated for her music
Anuradha’s contribution to the music world is recognized by the audience. She was awarded ‘Best Playback Singer’ in the Karnataka State Film Awards and later in the West Bengal State Awards. She also won in the same category in the Filmfare Awards. For her commitment to the music industry, Anuradha was awarded an honorary doctorate by Sathyabama University in 2012.

Anuradha Sriram’s Husband, Sriram Parasuram
A classical vocalist and violinist, Sriram comes from a musical background. He was trained by his mother, Parvathy Parasuram, and credits her for shaping him as a musician. Although he has made his name by singing classical music, Sriram is also widely popular for jazz and opera.
Sriram received the Firestone fellowship providing him an opportunity to learn Western violin in the United States. He then attended Wesleyan University for his Ph.D.
Sriram has received various awards for his incredible talent, the most notable one being The Ustad Amir Khan Award. He was also awarded The Bharat Ratna MS Subbalakshmi Award for his contributions to the music field. Along with his wife, Sriram also received an honorary doctorate from Sathyabhama University.

Sriram’s most notable works include his album ‘Savariya’ for which he received the award for Best Composer and Best Album. His orchestra performance for the film, ‘Shiraaz’ received national appreciation.
Anuradha and Sriram’s Duet
Although both have established themselves as solo singers, their combined Jugalbandhi’s are held in high regard. The combination of Karnataka and Hindi languages has made people label their famous Jugalbandhis as “innovative” and “mesmerizing”. The couple’s music show on TV titled “Ellaame Sangeetham Thaan” which is translated to ‘Everything is Music’, was a massive success consisting of more than 100 episodes. They were awarded ‘ The Best Music Programme on TV’ by the Tamilnadu Arts Academy for two years in a row.
