At just 6 years of age, Albino was kidnapped in 1951 by an unknown woman from a California park he was playing in. After luring the kid with candy, the woman then abducted Albino taking him to the East Coast where he was taken in by a couple. Albino’s family continued to search for him for 7 decades actively. At the time, the law enforcement, Coast Guard, and other employees all joined forces to effectively look for the missing boy. Albino’s brother, Roger was also interrogated giving information about a “woman with a bandana” who took away his brother.
According to the Guardian, Albino’s mother passed away in 2005, never giving up hope that her son was still alive. It is reported that she kept a newspaper report about her son’s missing status in her wallet at all times.
After being taken in by a couple on the East Coast, Albino is said to have lived a comfortable life. He grew up to serve as a firefighter and is currently a father and a grandfather.

Albino’s niece found her uncle’s family
In 2020, Albino’s niece, Alida Alequin, 63, participated in an online ancestry test “just for fun”. The test showed a 22% match with a senior citizen on the East Coast. Alequin, ecstatic to have found a clue to find her missing uncle, began to collect old newspapers and searched the internet for information on the case. Her research spanned over a few years until she finally convinced the Oakland police department to look into the matter.
The police department then did extensive research on the decades-old case. They found out that the ancestry results were a strong match between Albino and his sister (Alequin’s mother).
After the confirmation of the fact that Albino was alive and well, Alequin and her mother were elated. In an interview with The Mercury News, Alequin described her emotions stating, “I grabbed my mom’s hands and said, ‘We found him.’ I was ecstatic,”

After tracking Albino down, the police then approached him with the good news. The FBI reunited him with his brother initially. After meeting him a few times, Albino’s brother, Roger unfortunately passed away in August 2024. Alequin drove her mother to meet her long-lost brother. She revealed that the two had a really tight, long hug. Alequin further revealed details about their initial interaction saying, “They grabbed each other … They sat down and just talked.”
Although the shocking case has garnered interest from the public, Alequin stated that her uncle, Luis Armando Albino did not wish to talk to the press. Talking to other families who have dealt with the pain of a missing child, she advised, “I would say, don’t give up.”
