Sha’Carri Richardson is a professional track and field sprinter who competes for Team USA. She runs in the 100-meter or 200-meter race. In 2019, Richardson won The Bowerman Award, given to the best in collegiate track and field. In 2023, she won world titles in the 100-meter race. Sha’Carri Richardson’s Early Life

Richardson, born on March 25, 2005, was raised in Dallas, Texas by her grandmother. She attended Carter High School in Dallas where her talent for speed was quickly noticed. She took part in the AAU Junior Olympics and competed in various college competitions which gave her fame and confidence to move to the professional level.

Richardson’s Career

In 2019, Richardson competed in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships. She completed the 100-meter race in only 10.75 seconds breaking a long previous record. In the competition, she broke two under-20 world records which made her want to sign professional contracts.

In 2020, she qualified to compete in the 100-meter race at the Tokyo Olympics. However, she was then stopped from competing for testing positive for THC (cannabis). She was also disqualified for a month by The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). Later, Richardson confessed to taking the drug and promised to be back with more training. She also explained that she took the drug while mourning the death of her mother and due to the pressure of competing in the Olympics. She was later confident saying she was not just back but ‘better’.

In 2023, Richardson set a record at the Diamond League in Doha with 10.76 seconds. She then proceeded to win gold at the 2023 World Athletics Championship running 100 meters in 10.65 seconds. Her team also won gold at the 4 x100meter relay setting a record of 41.03 seconds.

Richardson Won Gold At The Paris Olympics 2024

Although Richardson was a public favorite to win gold at the 100-meter sprint, she finished second. Her competitor, Julien Alfred snagged the gold medal by completing in only 10.72 seconds. Alfred won the first-ever medal for her country, Saint Lucia. Richardson placed second with 10.87 seconds.

With the upset in the 100-meter race, Richardson led Team USA to gold in the 4 x100 meter relay in just 41.78 seconds. Her teammates, Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry, and Gabrielle Thomas deserve a huge credit. Thomas expressed that passing the baton to Richardson was ‘special’ as she is so fast.

In a press conference after her race, Richardson described her feelings as ‘phenomenal’. She also said it was her full trust in her teammates that led them to this victory.

Sha’Carri Richardson’s Romantic Interests

In 2015, Richardson announced to the world that she identifies as bisexual. From 2019 to 2022, she was in a very public relationship with Jamaican hurdler, Janeek Brown. They were first introduced to each other at an award show in 2019. However, their relationship was soon deemed not perfect. A few years later, Richardson took to Instagram to allege that Brown was physically abusive toward her. She further stated that Brown did not show much care when Richardson was targeted by her girlfriend’s family and country.

Later, in an Instagram Live, Brown admitted to being physically abusive once and accepted that there was physical evidence of the altercation. Towards the end, Brown said that she is ‘going to find herself now’ and is constantly trying to be a better person.

After this incident, Richardson has kept her romantic life very personal and does not divulge much information on the matter. However, on August 1^st, 2024, she shared a post on her Instagram celebrating National Girlfriend’s Day. She also shared a picture with red roses to her story and wrote ‘the best’. This has made her fans curious enough to speculate who the mystery person could be.
