Governor Tim Walz’s Estranged Brother, Jeff Walz Publicly Criticizes His Nomination For Vice President

In a Facebook post, Jeff Walz made his stance on his brother, Tim Walz’s nomination for VP crystal clear. In an explicit statement, Jeff stated that he was “100% opposed” to his brother’s political agendas and did not support him in any way. It is reported that the brothers have not been on talking terms since 2016 except for a phone call made through their mother. After his comments went viral, Jeff expressed his regret saying that although he stands by his statement, he did not mean for them to hurt Tim’s campaign.

In an impulsive decision, the older Walz brother made some statements against Tim Walz running for Vice President. Replying to a Facebook user who asked him about his stance on Trump, Jeff stated that he has thought long about publicly endorsing him, but does not believe in his agendas. He also stated that he liked his privacy and wanted to keep himself and his family away from the political drama.

Speaking against his brother, Jeff added that he is “not the type of character” who should be making decisions for the public. Furthermore, he mentioned “the stories I could tell” which was perceived by the public as a threat to his brother.

Jeff Walz Clarified His Comments

After his comments under a Facebook post gained national attention, Walz claimed that he felt it was essential to clarify that he did not mean any harm by his comments. CNN reported Jeff’s clarification saying that his comments were just to separate his stance from his brother’s as people tended to align the two. Jeff further stated that his acquaintances made him realize that it was generally perceived that the two brothers felt the same way on certain political agendas so his comments were directed at them to clarify and separate the two.

Nevertheless, Jeff stated his regret at choosing Facebook as the platform to share his thoughts. He also clarified that the “stories” he was talking about were nothing too bad and were just fun banter. An example of his story pertained to Tim always throwing up on car rides therefore none of his siblings wanted to sit with him.

Tim and Jeff Walz’s Relationship

In an interview, Jeff Walz expressed his sorrow at the distance between him and his brother and said that it was “too bad” how they gradually grew apart. Jeff added that he hoped that the two could still stay civil despite not agreeing on political ideologies.

It is reported that the brothers last talked in 2016 at their brother’s funeral and have gone 8 years with no contact except an occasion. The two had a brief talk when Tim called their mother on her birthday and she passed the phone to her older son. Jeff explained that the brief conversation was regarding some documents such as tax information that he refused to give.

Trump’s Claim Of Tim’s Brother Endorsing Him

Despite making his stance crystal clear on the matter, Trump claimed that Jeff was supporting his brother in his run against Kamala Harris for VP. The former president also shared an image that he claimed was “Tim’s family” wearing pro-Trump shirts. However, it was later discovered that the supporters in the photo were distant relatives and did not include Jeff Walz.

After the entire fiasco, Jeff has stated that he does not wish to take part in his brother, Tim Walz’s campaign, neither for, nor against him.
