Former Rugby player and current MMA fighter, James Haskell has garnered the reputation of a playboy. After being seen out with different women one after the other, Haskell is termed as “not a nice guy” by the public. However, after continuous bashing by the public especially on his social media, Haskell’s ex-wife came to his defense.

Haskell Reflected On The Time When His Parents Embarrassed Him

James was born on April 2, 1985, to parents, Jonathan and Susie Haskell. He was brought up in Berkshire, England where he attended Papplewick School. Haskell then studied at the Wellington College in his hometown where he had quite a notorious streak. He found his love for rugby at a very early age and started playing professionally in 2007.

In an interview, Haskell joked about how his parents, especially his father embarrassed him in front of his teammates. He explained that during his early days of playing rugby, his father created a website with his name and then proceeded to create his son’s business cards to hand them out. He recalled begging his dad not to create a website but he was very insistent to do so.

Once his teammates found out about it, they had a good laugh and pulled Haskell’s leg for a very long time. However, after seeing the opportunities for sponsorships, his teammates built their own websites.

Haskell’s Career As A Rugby Player

Haskell began his career in 2007 playing for Wasps in the Heineken Finals. His performance made Stade Francais offer him a contract in 2010. However, after playing for a year or so, Haskell went back to Wasps in 2012. In 2015, after playing in the Rugby World Cup, his fame increased tenfold courtesy of his performance. The following year, Haskell was credited ‘Man of the Series’ playing against Australia.

In 2019, much to his fans’ disappointment, Haskell announced his retirement via Instagram.

Haskell’s Short Run In MMA

The same year when he announced his retirement from rugby, Haskell decided to give MMA a shot. He participated in the Heavyweight category competing for Bellator MMA. IN 2020, Haskell decided to make his debut in mixed martial arts however the event was canceled because of Covid-19. After suffering from a spinal injury, Haskell decided to retire from MMA in 2021.

Haskell’s Marriage to TV Presenter, Chloe Madeley

After dating for a couple of years, Haskell and Madeley got married in 2018 in an intimate ceremony. They soon announced the birth of their daughter, Bodhi. Five years later, the couple announced their divorce in 2023 after being together for around a decade.

Even after they parted ways, the duo is still on good terms and co-parent their daughter smoothly. They are often spotted together concerning their daughter’s events. Earlier in March, Daily Mail reported that the duo took their daughter out for lunch and allegedly seemed cozy. Madeley posted their outing on her Instagram.

Haskell’s Long List Of Scandals

During his college days, Haskell was involved in an incident where his friend, Daran-Jones made an explicit video with his then-girlfriend using a hidden camera. Daran and Haskell then allegedly shared the video with their class fellows. In light of this accusation, Haskell was suspended by the Wellington College Administration. Years later, he acknowledged the incident saying his only part in it was the idea and that he did not have a hand in its execution.

During his rugby-playing days, Haskell was accused of making unwanted sexual advances on a hotel employee with his teammates.

James Haskell’s Reputation As A Womanizer

After continuous shade thrown at Haskell for his partying with several women, his ex-wife, Madeley came to his defense via Instagram. In an interview, she admitted that she feels sorry for her ex-husband about the insinuations that he is not a nice person. She further added that after their separation, she has no concerns with his partying and stated that Haskell is an excellent father to their daughter. Haskell refused to comment on the matter.
