Does Popular Korean Actor, Ji Chang-wook Have Siblings?
Ji Chang-Wook, an infamous South Korean actor and singer, gained massive fame with his work in a South Korean drama titled ‘Smile Again’. The series, directed by Kim Myung-Wook gained popularity in a short period and even won various awards. This paved the way for Ji Chang-Wook to gain major roles in more drama series. He is one of the most well-known and celebrated actors in South Korea and has won significant awards throughout his career.
Ji Chang-Wook’s Early Life
Ji was born on July 5, 1987, in Anyang-si, South Korea. He, regrettably lost his father at a very young age and lived with his mother for most of his life. In an interview, Ji explained that living with his mother for a prolonged time had a positive impact on his mental health. He stated that he, to this day, lives with his mother since she would have had to live alone if he moved out. He further said that it’s also beneficial for him since long work hours could make him depressed but knowing that his mother lives a normal life at home gets him relaxed and carefree.

Ji Chang-Wook’s Siblings
Ji does not have any siblings and as already mentioned, he and his mother live together. This has made them have a very close relationship.

Ji’s Career Highlights
In 2006, Ji began made his debut in the film ‘Days’, a musical theatre. Then, in 2008, he worked in the drama series, ‘You Stole My Heart’. However, he snagged his first major role in the film ‘Sleeping Beauty’ in 2008. The following year, Ji earned a role in ‘My Too Perfect Sons’ which was well received by the audience.
In 2010, Ji managed to get a major role in the drama series ‘Smile Again’ which consisted of around 160 episodes. This drama of his was a fan favorite. Ji received the ‘Best Actor in a Daily Drama’ at the KBS Drama Award Show.

In 2011, Ji Chang-Wook played the lead role in ‘Warrior Baek Dong-soo’, a historical action drama series. This drama, similar to his previous ones, became popular quickly. For this, Ji was awarded a ‘New Star Award’ at the SBS Drama Award Show. The next year, Ji acted in ‘Fiver Fingers’ in which he played the villain for the first time. In 2013, he made a comeback in musical theater with ‘The Days’.
Ji’s Popularity Continued To Increase
Ji Chang-Wook’s acting in the historical show, ‘Empress Ki’ earned him international recognition and it also broke viewership records locally. His next role in the drama series, ‘Healer’ made him popular in not just Korea but also Asia, especially in China. Therefore, he was given roles in dramas in the Mandarin language like ‘Mr. Right,’ which was also chart-topping. In 2017, Ji played an addict in the film, ‘Fabricated City’. After the success of this film, he then starred in the rom-com show, ‘Suspicious Partner’.

Ji’s Military Service
Ji completed the basic military training at Cheorwon in the Gangwon Province, courtesy of the mandatory military service law in Korea. Ji earned a prize of high performance for his training. After the completion, he was then assigned to the same place to complete his remaining service. Ji was soon promoted to Corporal rank and further to Sergeant. In 2019, he was discharged and returned to acting.
Ji’s Return To Acting After Completion Of His Military Service
The first role Ji Chang-Wook got following his return was in the rom-com drama, ‘Melting Me Softly’. After his romantic comedy series went viral, he did another titled ‘Backstreet Rookie’, and then ‘Lovestruck in the City’. In 2022, Ji appeared in the widely famous Netflix series, ‘The Sound of Magic’. That very year, he also played the lead role in the popular drama, ‘If You Wish Upon Me’.

Ji’s Awards
Ji Chang-Wook has always been appreciated with the awards he was given. Early in his career, he was given the ‘Excellence Award’ in a daily drama and the same award in 2013 too for his role in ‘Empress Ki’. He also received ‘Best New Actor’ for his performance in the Musical Theatre.
In March 2023, Ji ended his contract with the agency, Glorious Entertainment according to Korean website, Soompi. He, now works under the company founded by his manager called The Spring Company.
