Chad McQueen’s Wife Jeanie Galbraith Shares Statement Confirming Karate Kid Actor’s Passing

Famous actor and the son of racing legend, Chad McQueen passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Starring in multiple movies but being known specifically for the first two The Karate Kid movies, McQueen’s passing comes as a shock to fans worldwide.

Chad McQueen’s Love Of Racing

Born on December 28, 1960, to actors Steve McQueen and Neile Adams, Chad “Steven” McQueen had an early obsession with all things racing. From automobiles to motorcycles, McQueen’s obsession with racing originated from his father, who was an American actor and racer.

Chad won his first-ever official race at the age of 10 on the set of the 1971 film Le Mans, before going on to win his class at the World Mini Grand Prix when he was 12. Over the years, McQueen participated in multiple types of racing, from Motocross to the Baja 1000. His racing life was cut short thanks to a serious injury in 2006 when he suffered a broken lower left leg, two fractures, and multiple rib fractures.

However, the injuries didn’t stop the man from staying in the racing world. From being a team owner to starting McQueen Racing, LLC, Chad’s love for racing was unquestionable.

An Excellent Actor And Even Better Producer

Chad McQueen may have a love for racing, but he also adored acting. One of his most famous roles was of Dutch in The Karate Kid and The Karate Kid 2. McQueen played the part of one of Johnny Lawrence’s friends and a karate master in his own right.

In addition to appearing in The Karate Kid movies, McQueen also had main roles in direct-to-video action films including Death Rising and Red Line. While his work as a producer won him a Telly Award thanks to his work on the documentary Filming at Speed, he eventually retired from the acting world.

McQueen’s retirement didn’t mean he was completely absent from the showbiz. Similar to his racing life, Chad appeared as himself in programs related to motorsports. The former actor was also intended to appear in the series Cobra Kai to reprise his role as Dutch, but he couldn’t due to commitments to his company.

Chad McQueen’s Wife And Personal Life

Chad McQueen initially dated Jill Henderson, the daughter of the trombonist Jimmy Henderson, in the 1980s. He later married Stacia Toten from 1987 until their separation in 1990, and the couple had one son. Chad and Stacia’s son, Steven Chadwick McQueen, went on to become an actor and a regular in the popular series The Vampire Diaries.

McQueen eventually married Jeanie Galbraith in 1993 and the couple had two children, Chase and Madison McQueen. Chad was married to Jeanie until his passing, and she was among the first to announce the late actor’s death.

In addition to Chad McQueen’s wife and kids, Chad also had a sister, Terry. Terry was the owner of a Malibu film production company but unfortunately passed away in 1998 due to complications after a liver transplant.

The Death Of A Racing Fanatic And Loving Father

Residing in Palm Springs, California, the actor’s cause of death was unknown. That is, until some hours later when The New York Times stated it was due to organ failure. This was fact-checked by the late actor’s attorney and friend, Arthur Barens.

Chad was 63 when he passed away on September 11, 2024. According to Arthur, the former actor never fully recovered from an injury he sustained in 2020. Chad McQueen’s wife and kids made the following statement:

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our father Chad McQueen.”

Chad McQueen may have passed away but he will be remembered fondly. McQueen’s loved ones will remember him for his love for racing and as a loving father and husband.
