CEO Gul Ahmed, Danish Iqbal’s Wife, Natasha Arrested For Killing 2 And Injuring 4 Others

In a viral case widely known as the ‘Karsaz Accident’, Natasha Iqbal who is the wife of the successful and famous businessman, Danish Iqbal, ran her luxury car over 2 innocent people. Even more shocking is the fact that instead of stopping to check over the victims, Iqbal sped up, injuring 4 more people. It is alleged that she was drunk at the time. The incident took place in Karachi, Pakistan.

Danish Iqbal Tried To Use His Influence To Save His Wife

Danish Iqbal currently holds the position of the CEO of the company, Gul Ahmed Energy, and its sub-companies including Metro Power Group. According to its website, Natasha serves as a board member of the company. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of associate companies like Gul Ahmed and Metro Solar Power. Danish is accused of trying to use his high-profile status to urge his contacts to save his wife from jail time.

Natasha Tried To Flee The Scene Of The Crime

On Monday, August 20th, Natasha was driving from her home to an unknown location when her car lost control. Her luxurious car, a Toyota Land Cruiser ran straight into a motorbike killing a father and daughter on the spot. Iqbal, in a desperate attempt to flee, crashed into another car and a bike injuring 4 more innocent civilians. The injured were quickly shifted to the hospital with one victim, Abdus Salam still in critical condition.

After the incident, Iqbal got out of the car and tried to flee on foot, however was quickly caught by the general public who surrounded her to stop her escape. The people alleged that she looked to be in a drunken state and some even went as far as to say that she seemed to be on drugs. Iqbal was then handed over to the Police and subsequently, treated for a head injury. The victims were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital.

In the repercussions of the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against her by the brother of the slain victim, Imran Arif.

Natasha Is Declared Mentally Ill

A statement was quickly released after the announcement of Iqbal’s arrest, citing her as a mentally ill individual. Her husband, Danish added that she was on medication for stress release. Natasha’s lawyer further stated that she took the car without informing anybody.

After reading about the entire fiasco, the public was quick the criticize the accuser’s approach to save herself. It was also rightfully questioned how a mentally ill person could serve as a member of the board of directors of renowned companies.

This is not the first time a high-profile murderer has sought this tactic. In the past, many have had successful attempts to escape the justice system by declaring themselves ‘mentally ill’.

Natasha’s Court Proceedings

In her first hearing of the case, Natasha did not appear in court. Her lawyer submitted a doctor’s report stating that her mental state at the time did not permit her to attend the hearing. The lawyer further stated that the accused had been undergoing mental treatment for the past 5 years. Citing her absenteeism, the judge denied bail.

In the investigation carried out, it was revealed that Iqbal was driving at a speed of around 100 km/hour on the Karsaz Road with a speed limit of around 35 km/hour. This resulted in the addition of reckless endangering and over-speeding to the already long list of charges she faced. It was further disclosed that Iqbal did not have a legal driving license but instead only possessed a British driving license at the time of the accident.

An image is doing rounds on social media showing Iqbal smiling and holding peace signs, swarmed by lawyers. Although the image went viral quickly, it was soon fact-checked to be fake, generated by Artificial Intelligence.

The Victims Of The Unfortunate Accident

Among the deceased innocents were Imran Asif, aged 60, and his daughter, Amina Asif, aged 26. While Imran sold bread for a living, his daughter was currently completing her studies while working part-time. Another victim, Abdus Salam, aged 60, was critically injured and is currently fighting for his life at the hospital.

Rumors soon surrounded the families of the victims stating that they were ready to settle in case blood money was provided to them. This had a high chance of the case being closed. However, the rumors were quickly debunked by the families who were livid at the speculations. The deceased, Imran Asif’s brother, Professor Imtiaz made it crystal clear that any suggestions of receiving blood money were ‘meaningless’.

The entire incident has led to talks about the penalties of road negligence and the transparency of Pakistan’s Justice System. The families of the victims continue to hope for justice to be served.
