The Star Sophie Capewell Plays an Emotional Tribute to her Late Father Nigel Capewell

A gold medalist and talented girl Sophie Capewell got into tears after winning a gold medal at the Summer Olympics 2024, dedicating her medal to her father Nigel Capewell.

Sophie Capewell has always been a dedicated and hard-working girl who is pampered by her parents. Sophie Capewell’s parents supported her in her every step of life. However, to watch her daughter win a gold medal was a dream of her father Nigel who died in the year 2021. The star personality competed in the Summer Olympics 2024.

The Professional Cyclist: Sophie Capewell

Sophie Capawell, a shining lady was born in the year 1998, September 4, in Litchfield. Not much information about her early life is mentioned in any of her social media accounts. It’s just that she grew up in Staffordshire. Brought up by her parents Debbie and father Nigel Capewell who was a professional cyclist representing Britain in the competition held in the year 1996, the 1996 Paralympic Games, and the Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000.

Sophie and her sister Emily were raised in an athlete family due to which Sophie was a lot into cycling. From the age of six, she got into cyclocross. She studied at Connell Sixth College and completed her degree in mathematics from the University of Loughborough (GBR).

The young lady started her career in the year 2020 competing in the women’s sprint in Berlin at the World Championship of 2020. She also participated in the year 2021 World Championship in the city of France where she got bronze.

To continue her career with dedication, Sophie got a chance to take part in the Commonwealth Games in the year 2022 representing the team England. Even giving her best, the lady got a defeat with fourth position but never gave up.

Proceeding in her career, she won a silver medal at Women’s Keirin in 2022. This silver victory was dedicated to her father who died in the year 2021.

The Supporting Parents Nigel and Debbie

Sophie Capewell’s parents, Nigel and Debbie have always been supportive and motivated her in her thick and thin. She has inherited her talent from her dad who was a professional athlete in cycling and has won many awards in his journey. However, nothing about her mother’s life and journey is mentioned in any of her accounts.

Sophie Capewell’s father Nigel who competed in many of his competitions and got fourth in the years 1996 and 2000 year, died in the year 2021, October. Her father’s death was a big loss for her. However, the lady hopes to carry the same legacy and talent in the field of cycling.

Winning a silver medal after her dad’s death made her emotional as she stated in her interview that she had been in trauma for a few days due to her dad’s loss. As she lost her dad, she was a little lost in her path while performing and felt a little messy.

This close relationship with her father made him a bit weak as her father was a backbone of her and always wanted her to win a gold medal.

Sophie Capewell Broke Into Tears After Her Victory

In the year 2024, the talented lady follows her dad’s dream of winning the challenge. Sophie got a chance to take part in the 2024 Summer Olympics. Representing the team sprint along with her teammates Emma Finucane and Katy Marchant won a gold medal.

This was a euphoric and historical moment for Team GB as they broke the record by defeating the opponent (New Zealand). They set a new record of 45.186 seconds in the final match. For Britain, it was the first Olympic medal. Sophia’s dad always wants her to compete in the Olympic games. However, the Team GB welcomed the three champions will zeal and spirit.

Their elastic achievement made her emotional after the match. She stated that her dad always wanted her to go for the gold medal as he took bronze in both of his games. She always suggested he never aim for a bronze-like him. Being a constant inspiration for Sophie, Sophie Capewell’s father played a role model in her journey.

After the competition, the girl broke into tears and wished that her dad was here watching her achievements. She also said that she knows that her dad would be super proud of her. The three super girls rock in the competition say that they did it.
