Born in the year 2000, October 2, in the city of Australia, Sydney, the young Matilda Emily Kearns aka Tilly had an interest in swimming from an early age. Raised in her hometown, the girl was brought up by her father, Phil Kearns who is a part of the Rugby Hall of Fame, Australia, as well as working as a commenter of Ruby with Fox Sports TV Channel, and her mother Julie Kearns.

At the age of 12, this young girl started playing her favorite water polo for Sydney Northern Beaches Breakers. The girl Tilly studied at Queenwood School for Girls from the year 2006 to 2018. At her school age, she started playing for the Sydney Breakers at her school. However after her school life, she attended the University of Sydney’s Lions where she played and worked harder to make her debut for Australia in the year 2019 FINA World League Finals.

As an passionate girl, she also played for the University of Southern California. This passionate girl started her career in the year 2019 and became a member of the Australian Stingers squad. With the squad, she competed at Tokyo 2020 Olympics. At this championship, the girl with her team Aussie Stingers got victory as second and moved to the quarter-finals. Unfortunately in the quarter-finals, the team Were defeated by Russia and were not able to compete in the finals.

Throughout her career till now, the girl has played for the FINA World Championships, in 2022 and secured 6th position, in the World Aquatics Championships, in 2023, and got 4th, and World Aquatics Championships in the year 2024 and secured 6th position.

Tilly is coached by Rebbeca Rippon and is currently playing for the Australian National Team as a professional water polo player. Recently with the remarkable performance of Tilly, she and appeared at the Summer Paris Olympics of 2024 and secured a silver medal.
