New Jersey’s High School Student, London Deshields Commits Suicide After Battling Severe Depression: Find Out Her Obituary Details

In a heartbreaking incident this week, New Jersey’s Lenape Middle School student, London Deshields tragically lost her battle with depression, eventually taking her own life. It has been reported that her depression was connected to the constant bullying she faced in her school. Her death was announced by the school’s basketball team, Philadelphia Belles coached by London’s father, Dave Deshields.

London Deshields’ Demise

9th grade student, Deshields was not only blessed with athleticism but also excelled in academics. She was a part of the girls’ soccer team and is reported to have been the star player amongst all. Deshields was expected to graduate in 2027 but life, unfortunately, had other plans.

London’s sudden death sent a wave of panic amongst her school with her peers and teachers being in complete shock. Her classmates describe her as a kind, thoughtful, and incredibly hardworking individual.

Was London Deshields bullied at her school?

According to several reports, London was constantly bullied at the Lenape Middle School which sent her into severe depression. The persistent bullying is said to have taken a toll on Deshields’ mental health which ultimately led her to take the difficult decision. It is further reported that academic and athletic stress and pressure for better performance also contributed to her stress.

Despite facing silent battles herself, London was a true friend to others who tried her best not to let anyone down.

London’s family and friends mourn her death

London’s sister, Sydney expressed her sorrow at hearing the news of her sister’s death. Sydney described her loving bond with her sister stating that they face-timed every day. She also revealed that London loved to borrow things from her sister when she left them at home to go away to college. The Deshields sisters adored each other with London looking up to her big sister.

London’s friends described her personality as “old schooled” and revealed that she loved simple hangouts. Some of her favorite outings included going to the carnivals, and beaches or having sleepovers with her friends. London’s family revealed that her cat, Pepper could feel her absence and is also grieving Deshields’ death.

A GoFundMe page is announced for her death

Lenape Middle School’s basketball team, Philadelphia Belles announced the sad news on X, formerly known as Twitter, and expressed their thoughtfulness to their coach and London’s father, Coach Dave Deshields. The post communicated their compassion towards the Deshields family.

A GoFundMe page was announced after her death. The page asked the public to donate whatever they see fit in order to “honor her (London’s) spirit and legacy”. It also stated that the money would be used to preserve her memory in a worthwhile way. The money is to be used to cover London’s funeral costs and an event celebrating her memories.

As of yet, the GoFundMe page has exceeded people’s expectations raising more than 50,000 dollars beating the target of 35,000 dollars.

London Deshields’ Obituary

London’s beloved ones are requested to attend the memorial service on September 9, 2024, at the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Beverly, New Jersey. The event is from 3 to 6 pm. London’s funeral service is to follow shortly after. Acknowledging the family’s wishes, the burial will be an intimate event with only close family in attendance.
